Yesterday me and my boyfriend went along to the Emirates Go East Festival in Newcastle, located in Times Square, just next to the Life Centre. I hadn't heard about the festival prior to last week, but when an email dropped into my inbox asking if I would like to attend in exchange for some food and drink vouchers, I couldn't say no!

This is the first set of festivals of it's kind, Emirates are hosting the Go East Festival in 5 regions across the UK. The festivals are described as being a vibrant celebration of unique cuisines and cultures and that is definitely what we experienced.

I did imagine the festival to be a little larger, although it was just right for the amount of people there at the time we visited. The main attraction was the staging and seating area, decorated in gorgeous lanterns, lights, flags and umbrellas was a 50% scale replica of an Emirates A380 wing as the roof. I thought this was a really interesting touch, although I have to say it was my boyfriend who pointed it out!

There were a few choices of food stalls, including Indian, Lebanese and Asian, we went for the latter, choosing a sweet potato pad thai or myself and a duck curry for my boyfriend, which were both super yummy. My boyfriend also couldn't resist a chicken wrap from Papa Ganoush, they're his favourite! For drinks my boyfriend went for a passionfruit daiquiri and I chose an asian inspired smoothie, both really refreshing.

As for entertainment, in the hour or so we were there we saw 3 different acts. Firstly a traditional African dance group, 2 ladies playing Asian instruments and 2 bellydancers, plenty to keep us entertained! We also had our photo taken by 2 of the lovely Emirates employees wearing the Emirates hats, as you can see from the hilarious photo above. We had a good laugh at the fact my boyfriends head was about 3 sizes too big for the pilots hat! I thought this was a really nice touch, being able to take a little photo away with you.

We both really enjoyed our time here and wouldn't hesitate to return back if it comes to Newcastle again!

What a great thing for Emirates to do! I love the fact that the roof was a wing replica, it seems like it should have been a bigger festival or an event at a festival, but either way its a great touch! Your food looks so yummy x
