North East Visits | Kracklin Newcastle

There's nothing I love more than trying out new eateries, even more when they're new independent places, they're always the best! I'd heard a few good things about Kracklin who specialise in gourmet roast sandwiches, which has just recently opened on Market Street in Newcastle. Me and my boyfriend stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, it's only a small place with a few tables, we were lucky to get a little one next to the window.

I can't think of anywhere else that serves food like this in town, it has a very New York style vibe, with the decor and the menu also reflects that. My boyfriend had been really eager to go here as soon as he heard about it, but I did have some reservations, only hearing things about loads of meat, vegetarian problems! But luckily there was still something I could enjoy too!

My boyfriend decided on the Reuben, which was just like a traditional reuben, salt beef, swiss cheese, 1000 island dressing and pickled cabbage. It also came with a pickle which I gladly ate! My boyfriend assured me it was so tasty! I decided on the Grilled Cheese, made with 3 cheeses with Apple & Chilli Jam. It was so yummy, is there anything better than a tonne of melted cheese?! Both sandwiches were served with long strips of crackling, obviously I couldn't eat mine but they looked great and my boyfriend said they were really nice.

We both decided to get a side of Poutines each, a Canadian delicacy of fries, cheese curds and gravy. I'm an avid watcher of Essie Button on YouTube and with her being Canadian have heard her mention them many a time, don't knock it till you've tried it! Honestly they were so nice!

I really enjoyed our lunch here, the service was really quick and friendly, the food was to die for, I was so stuffed, we both couldn't finish everything. At only £25 for the both of us with 2 sandwiches, 2 sides and 2 drinks I think it's really decent value for money and wouldn't hesitate to go back!
