The Running Fox in Felton has been on my radar for the longest time, a while back me and Steven went for lunch at The Running Fox when we went for a stay at the Northumberland Arms which was delicious, but we really wanted to come back to try their afternoon tea which is pretty legendary around these parts! So we decided to book a table here for afternoon tea as a treat before we both went back to work after a lovely Christmas break (it gets super busy here so I'd definitely recommend booking!).

Tea starts from 3pm, after a brisk walk over the bridge to look at the pretty scenery we found our table in a nice spot upstairs at the window. We chose the Afternoon Tea for 2 which is £25 including endless tea or coffee which I think is seriously reasonable for the amount and quality of food. What sets this Afternoon Tea apart from the rest is that it's pretty much totally customisable! You can pick your drink, a sandwich filling, slice of pie or quiche, a cheese or fruit scone then a slice of cake. They bring over a little blackboard with all of the days selection on!

So onto the main event! For sandwiches I chose the brie and chutney (you can also ask for the sandwich fillings without certain elements if you wish, I missed out the walnuts!), which was delicious! Steven went for the beef, stilton and chutney, he even went as far as to say it was his favourite sandwich of all time, a strong statement! I was really impressed at the amount of veggie friendly pies/quiches, which about half the selection were! I went for the leek and stilton quiche (cheese is clearly taking a starring role here!), it was so so yummy! Steven had the brie and bacon quiche and he really enjoyed his too!

So onto scones, Steven being ever the savoury fiend went for cheese, which he was more than pleased about! I chose the fruit, can't shake the sweet tooth! Both of the scones were huge and fluffy! I think having a cheese scone allowed Steven to tackle his huge wedge of Victoria Sponge with relative ease. It's one of his favourite cakes and he really enjoyed this one. I did manage to finish my delicious carrot cake with the help of a second pot of tea! The staff are always hovering around offering more tea and coffee which is really appreciated. They staff are lovely and really couldn't do enough, super friendly and totally on the ball! We will definitely be back for another spot of tea, with the endless combinations of customisation you can't really ever get bored! Have you been to The Running Fox?

I LOVE the Running Fox, Ive only been the once, for my birthday a few years ago! It was before we had a car so we trecked all the way out from Newcastle on a bus that took forever. It was definitely worth the trip though, I love that you can choose your own food and the slabs of cake are massive!
