Blonde Ambition

Read & Reviewed #20

I've finished my first few books of the year so far so I thought I would give you an update on the books I've read and a little roundup of what I thought about them!

How Not To Disappear by Clare Furniss - 4/5
This book is based around Hattie, who isn't having the Summer holiday she planned, her two best friends are away and her great aunt Gloria who she's never met has come into her life, and to top it off, she's pregnant. I really enjoyed this book, switching between Hattie and Gloria's perspective made the story intertwine perfectly and wasn't distracting, it has some serious issues, but also humour and is very uplifting, great read.

If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo - 4/5
Set around a transgender teenager named Amanda, this book follows her through her struggles, highs and lows in a new high school. This book covers some important topics and was really eye opening. You really get a sense of the characters and care about where their journey is taking them, would definitely recommend.

Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell - 4/5
This book is set at the Dunvegan School for girls which has since been converted into a family home. Sophie arrives at the old schoolhouse to spend the summer with her cousins. Brooding Cameron with his scarred hand, strange Lillias with a fear of bones and Piper, who seems just a bit too good to be true. And then there’s her other cousin. The girl with a room full of antique dolls. The girl that shouldn’t be there. The girl that died. This book is seriously creepy, if you love anything a bit spooky with plenty of gory twists and turns you'll love this, I couldn't read it before bed!

  1. If I was your girl sounds like a really good read - one to add to the list!
