Blonde Ambition

Read & Reviewed #7

Back again with another read & reviewed post. I've been slacking a bit with my reading the last couple of weeks, I've been so busy with uni that I'm too tired to even think about reading at night. I don't think I'm going to make my goal of 50 books this year, but I think I'll make 40 which is still pretty good!

Moon over Soho by Ben Aaronovitch - 5/5

This is the second book in the Peter Grant series, which I like to describe at the naughty Harry Potter!  In this book London constable and apprentice Peter Grant suspects sorcery when Soho area musicians drop dead, their brain scans showing magical draining. I absolutely loved the first book in the series and this one didn't disappoint! The character development is fab, they're full of laughs and the magic element isn't at all cheesy, I'd highly recommend giving them a read!

The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty - 4/5

Set around the story of the Munroe Baby Mystery on Scribbly Gum Island, Sophie unexpectedly inherits a house on the island from her ex-boyfriend's aunt, where secrets are around the corner. I really enjoyed reading this book, I found the descriptions very charming and the storyline was really intriguing.

The Mystery of the Clockwork Sparrow  by Katherine Woodfire - 3/5

The story is set in Sinclairs Department Store, awaiting its grand opening. But when a robbery occurs in the store, 3 of the employees are determined to crack the case. I think this might be a children's book...However I still found it a nice light entertaining read! I loved the descriptions of postwar London, the plot was still captivating and was a fun read.

  1. The Last Anniversary sounds interesting. 40 is a huge target! I've tried to make time to read more this year but damn, 40?!
