On the weekend me and Steven decided on an impromptu trip out for lunch, we wanted somewhere a bit different, nice and festive. After consulting our trusty Living North guide we decided on Bradley Gardens in Wylam, somewhere we'd both never been. I'd heard about here a few months ago, I'm sure they'd just been refurbished, but I'd seen some photos and thought it looked like a nice place to visit. There's not just a nice glasshouse cafe but also a cookware, homeware, ladies accessories and garden stores. The setting is just gorgeous, an 18th century walled garden.
The cafe was quite busy when we arrived, luckily there was a spare table for us among the reserved ones, I swear we have such good luck with stuff like that! We had a nice spot right beside the fire and the gorgeously decorated Christmas tree. The lunch menu was fab, again I forgot to photograph it like I always do, but honestly it was such a hard decision! I decided on the crab on toast, fresh local crab with mayo & lemon served on toasted sour dough with a side of skinny fries, it was delicious, plenty of crab, I could've done with a bigger bit of bread! My boyfriend went for the risotto with smoked haddock, spring onion & parmesan, I tasted this too and it was so tasty!
The setting here really is lovely, I'd imagine it looks even better in Spring when everything starts to bloom, but even still with the Christmas trees and twinkly lights it was still lovely. I'd definitely go back to the cafe for lunch again, it's not the cheapest of places, expect to pay around £9 per meal, so really just for a nice lunch.
