A while ago, I was asked to be a part of a Hidden Foodie Gems of Newcastle Guide by Millennium, by sharing my favourite food secret! Have a look at the infographic of all 12 different hidden foodie gems! It features some of my other favourite spots including
Ernest, The Fat Hippo and The Sausage Emporium!
I've said this before, but independent eateries are always the best in my opinion, and The Great British Cupcakery is no exception. I'd been meaning to go here for the longest time and I was so excited when me and my boyfriend ventured down to the Quayside to find it, it is a little tucked away!
The vibe of the place is just gorgeous, it's so up my street! The decor is vintagey, shabby chic and just lovely! Although we didn't have a reservation we we able to use the tables with reserved on as they weren't booked until later on, make sure you ask instead of just assuming there aren't any. We'd seen lots of hype about the "Geet Big Shakes" they do here and we couldn't resist! I can honestly say, Vincent Vega would be impressed with these "$5 shakes!", we both decided on the caramel ones, they were so thick and creamy, so much gorgeous caramel sauce, not to mention the cream and brownie on top! Not for the fainthearted but they're so so good!

For cakes it took us a while to decide as the selection was so good, my boyfriend went for his favourite, a slice of Victoria sandwich. I decided on a raspberry and white chocolate blondie. Sometimes with cake places they can be dry, but not here! Both cakes were super moist and yummy, full of flavour and just generally delicious! Although alongside the shakes we did struggle to clean our plates!
I can't say enough good things about The Great British Cupcakery, the food, service, decor was all fab, I wouldn't hesitate to go back, next time I'm on the Quayside I'll definitely be popping in the sample some more cake!
what a beautiful place ! And your pictures are so pretty too :)

Thank you lovely! :)
DeleteI'm yet to try one of the Shakes, I always tell myself "next time". Have you seen the new festive one? Looks amazing! I'm so impressed you managed one of those and cake! Did you need a lie down after?
