A few days ago while browsing on Twitter I came across Time Banhmi, a recently opened Vietnamese sandwich bar on Grainger Street in Newcastle. After scrolling through the photos I just knew it was somewhere I had to try! I've mentioned before I'm a lover of independent eateries and I can't resist Asian food so this sounded right up my street! The decor is super modern but still with nice little touches around the place.

Me and my boyfriend popped into town the other day and decided to give it a go. They offer 5 different fillings (Krackling Belly Pork, BBQ Pork, Happy Caramel Chicken, Sweet Charsui Pork and Tofu Ninja), which you can have as either a banhmi sandwich or with rice. All costing just £3.95, they also do summer rolls for £1.50 each. As well as that they also do crisps and other snacks with some sweet treats on the counter.

They also do a variety of Asian drinks, including Vietnamese coffee (which I saw someone else order and looked amazing!) and Thai Milk Tea which was honestly out of this world! I didn't know what to expect but I love tea anyway so I knew I would like it, but I absolutely loved it! It was a funny pink colour and was so sweet and milky, I would definitely recommend trying it!

So onto what we thought of the food, I ordered the Tofu Ninja as a banhmi sandwich, although the rice did sound very tempting also! This is probably the nicest tasting tofu I've ever had, no exaggeration! It was marinated in a delicious sauce, you can choose whether you want your sandwich spicy or not, I chose spicy but it was just a nice spice that didn't blow your head off, perfect with the cucumber and other salad bits that come with the sandwich. My boyfriend went for the BBQ pork banhmi, he also really enjoyed his, honestly they have so much flavour and are filled with delicious fresh ingredients and you can really tell! The buns were super fluffy and so filling! The summer rolls were also super tasty!

I was so impressed with this place and wouldn't hesitate to return, I think it's time Newcastle had somewhere like this and I don't doubt that they'll become very popular. The staff were also really friendly and the service was quick! I would definitely recommend popping in for lunch, it's great value for money and the options you get are super filling!

Oh thanks for this - always looking for new places to pop in for a sandwich, will give this a go x
