Somewhere I've been desperate to try for months is Meet & Treat in Newcastle. Located in Chinatown just beside the city walls this cafe really is a hidden gem! I've seen lots of photos of here floating around social media, it's ridiculously Instagramable! Hidden in Chinatown next to HanaHana it's really worth seeking this place out, it's one of the best Asian meals I've ever had and is very affordable!

They have a really wide drinks selection and I was spoilt for choice, I was tempted by the iced coffee but as it was a chilly day I couldn't resist the S'mores Hot Chocolate! It was huge and almost overflowing which I loved, but thankfully it came with a spoon! Loads of marshmallows, cream and biscuit crumbs, so delicious! Steven went for one of their smoothies and chose the Very Berry Smoothie did exactly what it said on the tin!

Their menu had lots of different choices, from small bites, soup noodles, boas, rice dishes, wraps, salads, sweet and breakfast! Steven is a sucker for a bao and he went for the Taiwan Style Braised Pork Bao, he said it was delicious, the best one he's ever had! It looked great and they have a few different varieties, I was so jealous I wish they'd had a vegetarian friendly one!

For our main dishes, Steven went for the Teriyaki Chicken with rice, the dishes were so beautiful presented, I was obsessed with the crockery, you could even buy it! Steven thought his was really delicious. I went for the Fried Tofu and Mixed Vegetable Noodles. I absolutely love ramen style dishes so I was so excited for this! The portion size was huge! The broth was amazing and so flavourful, the bowl was filled with noodles and asian vegetables. The fried tofu was spicy and really delicious! The service here was really quick and friendly, you even got a free travel mug if you posted a photo on Instagram or Facebook and tagged them, which of course we did! It's very reasonably priced here for really delicious food, we try and stay away from chain restaurants and wonderful places like this is exactly the reason why, I'd highly recommend a visit!

Alice & I went there before Christmas and they had some lovely dishes but the drinks were out of this world! I really wanted to try the Tofu and Mixed Veg but they didn't have any tofu left when we went, it looks delicious and I am so tempted to make another trip soon! :) xx

So glad you wrote this because you've reminded me that I need to go back! I've only been the once (when it very first opened) and that was just for a quick croissant at breakfast time - I really need to go back and try things out properly! Not sure how it fell off my list of places to try but it's back on now!
ReplyDeleteThis place sounds amazing and looks so cool! Definitely one for my list! :) xo
