Blonde Ambition

Read & Reviewed #21

I love when you have a big stash of books you're really looking forward to reading, currently that's my situation at the moment, I've been really lucky finding books with good deals on Amazon I really want to read or at charity shops. Here's a little round up of what I thought of the last 3 books I read!

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart - 2/5
Set around a group of affluent, privileged teenagers in the US this book follows their summers together spent on their private family island. This book is a hard one to explain, it's written in poems almost, I'd heard so much about this book but I was left feeling disappointed. I found that there wasn't really a plot, it felt very jumpy and didn't have any character development or any real flow. Personally for me I couldn't relate to the characters (like most normal people), it just felt like a bunch of rich white people problems. I did like the twist at the end but overall I was left underwhelmed.

Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven - 5/5
I absolutely loved All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven so I knew I'd love this book and I really did. Based around Libby, the former "world's fattest teen" and Jack who has a secret, he can't recognise faces. They develop an unlikely friendship founded on a cruel prank and the book follows them develop their connection. I really enjoyed this book, the plot was interesting and captivating, I really cared about the characters and enjoyed following their story.

The Woman In Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware - 5/5
After reading In a Dark Dark Wood, Ruth Ware's first book I was so excited for this one to come out, she really is the master of thrillers! After a press trip on a luxury cruise ship takes a sinister turn, Lo is the only one who can uncover the truth. This is a proper murder mystery, so many twists and turns and you really don't know who to believe, it had me hanging on every word, a total page turner!

  3. Lovely post Katie, and great to see your current reads. Lately I’ve been window shopping Amazon book deals, they really do have some good picks for the 3for£10. I love charity shops for books too, I recently picked up Holding up the Universe second-hand, so glad to see you thoroughly enjoyed it. Happy reading over Easter! :-) xx
